Low Cost of Ownership
Not only are the Nautica 200 and
Nautica 250 affordable, they are also
inexpensive to own. ISDN usage
costs are minimized by automatically
bringing up a link when there is data
to transfer and closing down the link
once traffic has stopped for a speci-
fied amount of time.
The Nautica Wizard also provides an
immediate warning if PC Client(s) ask
it to make an excessive volume of
ISDN calls, or very long calls or if
total ISDN usage is above normal in
any 24 hour period. The alarm also
notifies the user of a poorly config-
ured PC that is causing unnecessary
ISDN calls.
Flexible Solution
With dual Plain Old Telephone
Service (POTS) ports, users can attach
other communications devices to the
Nautica 200/250 like telephones,
modems, and fax machines.
Furthermore, a telephone connected
to the POTS port can take advantage
of value-added calling features
offered by service providers including
call forwarding, (on always busy or
no answer), call waiting, recall, call
hold, and retrieve.
The Nautica 250’s support of both IP
and IPX make it the ideal WAN con-
nectivity solution for remote users
who want to connect to the NetWare
corporate LAN. Its superior IPX proto-
col spoofing capability provides a
connectivity solution today while also
ensuring a smooth migration to IP in
the future.
Performance
The Nautica 200 and Nautica 250
offer the fastest possible data transfer
with the shortest ISDN connect time
and minimal ISDN charges. Data
compression using Hi/fn (STAC) or
Microsoft MPPC is available over the
PPP/MP link.
Additionally, the Nautica 200/250
provides Bandwidth on Demand
across an ISDN line during peak
usage periods. Once line usage
reaches a pre-defined level, the
Nautica 200/250 will open a second
B-channel and load balance traffic
across both channels. When line
usage drops below the predefined
level, the Nautica 200/250 closes
down one B-channel and returns to
the original bandwidth.
Dial on demand functionality is also
available. The Nautica 200 and
Nautica 250 routers take full advan-
tage of the speed and bandwidth of
ISDN lines while maintaining control
of ISDN call costs. The Nautica
200/250 brings up a link automatical-
ly when there is data to transfer and
closes down the link once traffic has
stopped for a specified amount of
time.
Interoperability
Nautica software has been tested for
interoperability with equipment from
other major hardware manufacturers
using PPP/MP/BACP standards. With
the Nautica 200/250, your investment
is protected.
Nautica 250 Special Features
The Nautica 250 uniquely provides
the following features:
Novell Netware IPX/SPX support
with IPX/SPX protocol spoofing.
Windows Integrated Naming
Service (WINS) – the Nautica 250 is
able to identify Host, Workgroup,
and Domain information via
NetBIOS over IP, broadcasts, or
directed packets on the local LAN.
Increased memory capacity allow-
ing the Nautica 250 to support
larger workgroup sizes and fea-
tures like IPX routing, NetBIOS
Name Server, and WINS proxy. It
also supports remote software
download that gives the user the
ability to send a new operational
image (e.g., NauticaRS) to the
router from a central location.

number assigned by your ISP. ISDN
cable included with the unit.
Two POTS Ports:
Analog telephones, fax machines,
and other analog communication
devices can access ISDN through
the Nautica 200 POTS interfaces.
The analog ports can take advan-
tage of value-added calling features.
DC:
The Nautica 200 uses a 9V DC power
module while the Nautica 250 uses
12V DC. Just power it up!
